A free invoice generator, with no account and no watermark

This invoice generator makes a clean, professional invoice in about two minutes. Fill in your details on the left, watch it build on the right, and export it as a PDF. There is no sign-up, no trial, no watermark stamped across the middle, and no limit on how many you make.

It runs entirely in your browser, which means the amounts you type and the clients you name never reach our servers. That is the main reason we built it this way rather than as an account-based tool.

How to use it

01

Add your business details

Your name or company and address go top left. This is who the invoice is from, and it is the part clients need for their own bookkeeping.

02

Add the client

Their name and address. If you are invoicing a company rather than a person, use the registered company name, since that is what their finance team will match against.

03

Set the invoice number and dates

Invoice numbers should run in sequence and never repeat. Issue date is when you send it; due date is when you expect payment. Thirty days is the common default, but shorter is normal for freelancers.

04

List what you are charging for

One line per item or service, with the amount. Add tax or a discount if they apply. The total calculates itself as you type.

05

Check the live preview, then export

The preview on the right is exactly what your client receives. When it looks right, export it as a PDF and send it.

What every invoice needs

Whatever tool you use, an invoice that gets paid without a follow-up email tends to contain the same eight things.

The word "Invoice"

Sounds obvious. It separates the document from a quote or a receipt, which matters if payment is ever disputed.

A unique invoice number

Sequential, never reused. This is the single most common thing freelancers get wrong, and it makes reconciliation painful later.

Your details and the client's

Both parties, with addresses. A client cannot process an invoice that does not say clearly who it is from.

Issue date and due date

Without a due date, "overdue" has no meaning and chasing payment is harder.

An itemised breakdown

What you did, and what each part cost. Clients query lump sums far more often than itemised lists.

Tax, stated separately

If you charge sales tax or VAT, show it as its own line with the rate. Never bury it in the total.

The total due, clearly

One unambiguous number, in a stated currency.

How to pay you

Bank details, or the payment method you accept. An invoice with no payment instructions is a surprisingly frequent cause of late payment.

Free version or full version

The free tool above covers a one-off invoice completely. The full version exists for people who send invoices regularly and are tired of retyping the same client details.

Common questions

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes. You can create, preview and export unlimited invoices as PDFs without an account, a card, or an email address. Nothing is stored on a server; the invoice is built in your browser.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up. Fill in the fields, export the PDF, done. The trade-off is that nothing is saved between visits, which is what the full version addresses.

Can I add my logo?

Not in the free version. Logo upload is part of the full version, along with an invoice archive and a saved client list.

Is my data private?

Your invoice is assembled in your own browser. Client names, amounts and addresses are not sent to us and we could not see them if we wanted to.

Can I use this for my business legally?

An invoice made here contains the standard fields businesses use worldwide. Tax rules vary by country though, so if you are registered for VAT or sales tax, check what your jurisdiction requires on the face of an invoice.

What does the full version add?

A saved client address book, an archive of past invoices, logo upload, PNG as well as PDF export, multi-currency, recurring invoices, and paid or overdue tracking. It is a one-time $10 payment, not a subscription, and it runs offline.

Getting paid on time is mostly a systems problem, not a chasing problem. If you are freelancing or building an income independently, our writing on building income streams and structuring your working week covers the rest of it.
